Kearney Kiwanis Pancake Feed is February 10th - 01/04/2018

The annual Kearney Kiwanis Pancake Day is set for Saturday February 10th at the Buffalo Co. Fairgrounds. Kiwanians from The Noon Club, Dobytown and Golden K with provide Pancakes and Sausage along with beverages. All community members are invited and can purchase tickets for $5 each from Kiwanis members. Grade School to age 12 are $2.50 and pre-schoolers and younger are free. Funds raised from this fundraiser are put aside into each Clubs Projecs Account and used to support the community with an emphasis on Children locally and around the world.

Breakfast with Santa a Big Success - 01/02/2018

The annual Kearney Area Children's Museum Breakfast with Santa Fundraiser on December 2nd was a huge success. with over 700 children and their families attending at the Buffalo Co. Fairgrounds enjoyed a Pancake and Sausage Breakfast provided by Kiwanis Clubs of Kearney. Children had the opportunity to talk to Santa, but also enjoyed Christmas Stories with Mrs. Claus, Arts and Crafts, Train Rides, Bouncy houses and much more. This annual event is an important fundraiser for the Kearney Area Children's Museum who provides a great family learning environment for are a kids.

Give Where You Live - Backpack Program - 11/13/2017

Dobytown Kiwanis once again will participate in the Community fundraising Day December 7 2017 called Give Where you Live with the Kearney Area Community Founddation. Dobytown Kiwanis will be asking the community to help support the club's School Backpack Program held early August where Backpacks are packed with School Supplies for grades Pre-K to 12. In 2017 1,100 backpacks were provided to students in need before the beginning of th school year. Since the projects inception in 1991 over 10,500 backpacks have been provided for free. Dobytown Kiwanis volunteered over 6,800 Community Service Hours in 2016 - 10/29/2017

Dobytown Kiwanis provided over 6,800 Community Service Hours for the Fiscal year Oct. 1 2016 to September 30th 2017. Members worked 1,767 Hours for Habitat for Humanity; Royal Family Kids Camp 789 Hours, Crane River Theater 677 Hours; Motorist Assistance Program 545 and Kearney Children's Museum all areas - 423. youth Srive hours were 2,433. These were hours directly related to Youth programs and events. Dobytown volunteered 597 hours fundraising for the year, raised $25,738 and donated 20,629 back to the community.

Dobytown Kiwanis Provide Backpacks with School supplies to 1,100 Kids - 08/31/2017

On Monday August 7th at Kenwood Elementary Dobytown Kiwanis along with many community sponsors and volunteers packed backpacks with school supplies for kids in need to begin the school year on the right track. This year the club provided 1,100 backpacks. The Nebraska-Iowa District Foundation prodvided the backpacks for a discounted price. Club Committee chairs Diane Nikels and Cheryl Gerdes spend much of the year purchasing the necessary supplies for ech grade from Pre-K to 12th. The club partners with the Kearney Area United Way and KPS to determine who is eligible for the free backpack. Dobytown Kiwanis host Stuff the Bus - 08/01/2017

Donytown Kiwanis along with the Kearney Area United Way sponsored "Stuff the Bus" July 28-30. The Club set up at the south doors of Walmart and asked community members to donate school supplies for the new school year. These supplies and donations would be used for our annual Back 2 School Link free backpack program August 7-9.

Numerous school supplies along with over $1,000 in monetary donations were collected over the three day event. The club would like to thanks community members who donated including a mother and her son who dropped off supplies. She said her son received a free backpack two years ago and they were returning the favor.

Dobytown Kiwanis Sponsors Free Family Night at KACM - 05/22/2017

Dobytown Kiwanis sponsored a Free Family Fun Night on Thursday May 18th at Kearney Area Children's Museum. This is an annual sponsorship. Another great turnout to with 282 in attendance of which 175 were non-members and 107 members. Dobytown Kiwanis provided game activities along with manning the Science Zone, Dobytown Junction and Train Playroom.

Kearney Kiwanis Pancake Day a Success - 02/13/2017

Kearney Kiwanis Clubs held their annual Pancake Feed at the Buffalo Co. Fairgrounds on Saturday February 4th. Once again the community stepped up and enjoyed Pancakes, Sausage, Coffee, Juice and fellowship. Along with the pancake feed, the Literacy Council had their book sale and Golden K Kiwanis held their annual garage sale.

Over 1,900 people attended and the Kiwanis Clubs of Kearney thank the Kearney Community for helping us by Serving Children of the World.


Give Where You raises over $2,900 for Backpacks - 01/30/2017

Dobytown Kiwanis would like to thank the Kearney Community for their generous donations in the Annual Give Where You Live Campaign December 1st 2016. Donations totaled $2,958.54. Dobytown Kiwanis will use these funds for the annual Back 2 School Link Backpack Program. The annual event is Dobytown Kiwanis Signature event where the Club provides Backpacks to Kids in need right before the beginning of the school year. Last year the Club distributed 1,000 backpacks.
