Dobytown Kiwanis has been a longtime sponsor of Kearney Area Children's Museum. One of our projects has been the Model Train Display. First built and set up in the 1980's led by Charter Member the late Myron Haines at the then Museum location on Ave A and Railroad. The Model Train display was moved to a new room at the old location and when the Children's Museum moved to another location the train display was put in storage due to a lack of space.

In 2009 the Kearney Children's Museum moved to a new facility on 4th Ave and 58th the Alia Arram Kearney Children's Museum.

Led by Myron Haines and Trish Kenagy, Dobytown Kiwanis along with the Central Nebraska Model Railroad Club, NE-IA District Foundation, Intermotion and other donors designed and created a new automated Model Train Zone called Dobytown Junction.

In the initial planning and building stage over 1,700 volunteers hours were provided and $7,000 in initial planning funds to build Dobytown Junction.

Today it is one of the more popular Zones at the Kearney Children's Museum. Dobytown Junction Committee that oversees the Zone is led by Train Master Paul Braden.

The Grand Opening of Dobytown Junction was in May of 2010. Then President Tim O'Dea had the honors of cutting the ribbon along with Trish Kenagy and then Executive Director of KidZone Tara Knuth.
